A land of pristine Himalayan beauty, home to Mount Kangchenjunga, sacred Buddhist monasteries, and vibrant cultural biodiversity.

Eastern Himalayan Heritage

Heart of the Eastern Himalayas

Sikkim is a mountainous state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan to the east, the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north and northeast, Nepal to the west, and West Bengal to the south.

Part of the Himalayas, the area has a dramatic landscape that includes India's highest mountain, 8,586m Kangchenjunga (the third highest peak on Earth), revered as the guardian deity of Sikkim. The state is also home to ancient glaciers, pristine alpine meadows, and thousands of varieties of wildflowers and rare medicinal herbs.

Steep winding paths lead to centuries-old hilltop Buddhist monasteries such as Pemayangtse Monastery, which dates back to the early 1700s, Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre, and Tashiding. Sikkim is recognized as India's premier organic state and a global hotspot of eco-tourism.
